An arrest in Ann Arbor can feel especially overwhelming when it involves a student, a first-timer, or someone far from home. I'm Justin Butler, and with my father Gene I've run Bail My Tail as a family business since 1982. We've helped Washtenaw County families through every kind of situation, and we'll meet yours with patience and zero judgment. Here's the lay of the land. Most arrests in the city are made by the Ann Arbor Police Department, based at the downtown Justice Center on East Huron Street. Since the city has no jail of its own, your loved one is booked into the Washtenaw County Jail on Hogback Road. Arraignment for misdemeanors and ordinance violations usually takes place at the 15th District Court on East Huron Street, where a judge or magistrate sets bond. Felonies are arraigned in the 15th District Court and then bound over to the 22nd Circuit Court — the Washtenaw County Trial Court — on East Huron Street for further proceedings. Michigan judges can set a personal recognizance bond requiring no money, a 10% cash bond, a full cash bond, or a surety bond through a licensed agent like us. Our premium is the state-regulated 10% of the bond, the same everywhere, and once bond is posted your loved one is released pending future dates. We never close. Call Bail My Tail: Flint 810-234-5776, Detroit 313-345-9255, or toll-free 877-869-8245.
