After arrest, your person is booked into the Alger County Jail on East Varnum Street in Munising. They're then brought before the 93rd District Court for arraignment, where the charges are read, their rights are explained, and the judge sets the amount and conditions of bail. Misdemeanors generally stay in the 93rd District Court. For a felony, the district court sets bond and schedules a preliminary examination; if probable cause is established, your loved one is bound over to the 11th Circuit Court for trial. Michigan judges can order a personal recognizance bond, an unsecured appearance bond, a 10% cash bond, or a full cash or surety bond. When a surety bond is the answer, we post it for you.
